We try to avoid non organic grains , meats, veg ,and dairy. We grow a big garden every year, as well as keeping hens(embroiled in a legal battle over them) .And basically try to support this entire industry. Thanks for the post, putting you in my favourites.
“Johnny’s Seeds, Burpee Seeds, Territorial Seeds and Park Seeds Have Been Removed From This List, They Are Not Owned By Monsanto in Any way; These Companies Do Sell Great Quality Products In Whole.”
I don’t know if Johnny’s Seeds and Johnny’s Selected Seeds are the same entity, but Johnny’s Selected Seeds was mentioned further down the list (additional) of safe suppliers.
For anyone concerned about GMOs, Seeds of Change should REALLY be completely out of the question. Mars is NOT concerned with your health or right to choose. They donated almost 400k to the campaign to defeat Prop 37 in California (the proposition that would have simply required GMO food be labeled). The fact that Seeds of Change signed the Safe Seeds Pledge is a smoke screen they’re hoping will distract the lazy consumer, Mars. Inc. has made its loyalties and intentions clear.
Thanks for pointing that out, Janell. You have a keen eye. I didn’t personally write the article myself, but I did a little research into Ferry Morse and it can be pretty confusing… Some “organic” or heirloom seed suppliers purchase their seeds from other seed companies that may sell GMO and hybrid seeds as well as non-GMO heirloom seeds. Monsasnto has also purchased numerous heirloom seed companies that may in fact sell non-GMO seeds, despite being owned by Monsanto. There’s also a web of subsidiary companies that you wouldn’t know had anything to do with Monsanto unless you did a lot of detective work.
In the case of Ferry Morse, it would seem that they do sell non-GMO seed, but they are owned by Groupe Limagrain of France, which is a big GMO producer selling about 67% of their seeds in Europe. I can’t vouch for Ferry Morse’s seeds, but it seems it comes down to a matter of principle. Even if their seeds are totally GMO, I wouldn’t want my money eventually ending up in the pockets of a GMO company.

Really enjoyed my delicious insect-damage free salad last night — thanks Monsanto!
So…. If I’m understanding you correctly, insect damage concerns you, but toxic food doesn’t?
I did not notice Burpee’s or Johnny’s Select Seeds on either list. Those are my two favorite seed compnaies. Any info on either of them?

Thanks so much for supplying this list of Monsanto free seeds!
Ferry Morse is under the “bad” list, then if you scroll down a little, it’s supposedly on the “safe” list. What’s up with that?
